Bushwacker Ecotours is a collection of environmental scientists who work in and study the natural areas of Southern Queensland. These very same people guide all Bushwacker Ecotours. Some are students, some are researchers, all have a passion for our natural treasurers and a wealth of knowledge to pass onto Bushwacker Ecotour guests.

Bushwacker Ecotours is a Queensland Specialist Tour Company. Queensland, in Australia has a wide diversity of natural attractions, with many areas protected by National Parks and World Heritage listing.

The focus for a lot of the Bushwacker Ecotours tour program is the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia. This World Heritage listed area includes the famous Lamington & Springbrook National Parks. Extended tour options also take in Girraween National Park, Fraser Island and the Julien Rocks Marine Reserve off Byron Bay. There is no better way to appreciate the unique qualities of these areas than in the company of an environmental scientist.

Ecotourism

The definition of ecotourism adopted from the Ecotourism Association of Australia is:

"Ecotourism is ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation."

Environmental Science

The study of Environmental Sciences is usually is 3 year university degree course. It provides an education in environmental science, marine biology, applied biology, ecology and ecotourism. In Southern Queensland, Griffith University is one of the leading providers of environmental science professionals. Griffith University specialises in areas relating to: coastal and esturine biology, sub tropical rainforest environment, and environmental impacts of tourism. Bushwacker Ecotours sources many of its guides and much of it operational expertise from the Griffith University Environmental Science School.
