Depart Uluru (Ayers Rock) for the towering orange walls of Kings Canyon and choose between two guided walks. Visit Kings Creek Station, an operating cattle station on the way to Alice Springs were the tour concludes.

Itinerary

Day 1.
Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kings Canyon.

Depart Uluru at 12.30 p.m. and travel through the desert landscapes of the Australian outback. Stop to view Atila (Mt Conner) mesa. We continue on to Watarrka National Park, home of the remarkable formation of Kings Canyon and the George Gill Ranges.


Day 2.
Kings Canyon Rim Walk or Floor Walk, Lost City, Kings Creek Station, Alice Springs

For the more energetic, take an early guided walk to the rim of Kings Canyon, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the towering orange walls. Continue through the domed rock formation of the Lost City and descend into the lush gorge where the Garden of Eden is found. (Good supportive footwear, a hat and minimum of 2 litres of water are essential. The walk takes around three hours and requires a reasonable degree of fitness.) An alternative, easy walk along the canyon floor is also available. The canyon floor walk takes you deep into the canyon between the towering orange walls. We head to Kings Creek Station, with time for lunch (own expense). Early in the afternoon, depart for Alice Springs, arriving at 6.30 p.m.
