Depart Darwin and travel to World Heritage-listed Kakadu, Australia's largest national park. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before joining a guided cruise on Kakadu's most famous wetland area, Yellow Water billabong. Cruise the tranquil waters as your guide provides informative commentary on the region's natural history, flora and wildlife. You may even spot a crocodile or two. After lunch at Cooinda be escorted through galleries of rock art at Nourlangie Rock, one of the most significant Aboriginal art sites in Kakadu National Park. Lx1

This morning there's time to take a scenic flight over the beautiful Arnhem Land escarpment (own expense). Travel to Ubirr to see superbly preserved rock art, where each painting is thousands of years old. Hear the stories and local legends connected with these ancient galleries. Join an Aboriginal guide and cruise the East Alligator River. Learn of the flora, fauna, Aboriginal mythology and history of the region. Then, with special permission from the traditional owners, take a short walk into Arnhem Land. On our return trip to Darwin, call in at Window on the Wetlands and take in stunning views over the floodplains while enjoying a glass of wine. Lx1
Day 3. Litchfield National ParkEnter Litchfield National Park, a lush region with scattered weathered sandstone outcrops, monsoonal rainforest, year-round waterfalls and spring-fed streams. View magnetic termite mounds then travel to the striking double waterfall that forms Florence Falls. Continue to one of the park's most stunning waterfalls, Tolmer Falls. Stop for lunch (own expense), then at Wangi Falls enjoy a swim in the pool (conditions permitting) or take a walk through the bush to the top of the falls. Return to Darwin.
