Heron Island Resort is famous around the world for it's resort, diving and snorkelling - in fact over half of all guests are from overseas.

This is a far greater percentage than other island resorts and it is simply because Heron Island Resort is right on the Great Barrier Reef. And that's a benefit in any language.

A honeymoon couple from Sweden summed up the Heron Island Resort difference by noting 'there are beautiful beaches a lot closer to home, but there is nowhere else on earth like this'. The fact is, without the Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island would be just another island resort.

On Heron Island you can swim straight off the beach to an endless garden of coral bursting with beautifully coloured fish. But it's what you don't see around Heron Island that makes the resort so special. You won't see any buildings above the tree line. And you won't see any day trippers either.

At Heron Island Resort, the mosaic of the reef surrounds you even as you enjoy a drink in the air-conditioned Pandanus Lounge.

Because too many buildings and too many people would put too much pressure on the delicate balance of nature.

Being on the reef gives Heron World Heritage status and that's something few other resorts in the world can offer. The semi-sub gives people of all ages an underwater guided tour along the reef edge.
 
AQUA SOUL SPA

Drawing its inspiration from Heron Island's dramatic Great Barrier Reef location, Aqua Soul Spa is influenced by the rich and diverse beauty of the sea.

At Aqua Soul the strength of the sea is supported by earth elements and intertwined in treatments that have been created to instil a sense of health and well being. Our belief in the healing properties of marine elements and natural botanicals and the positive influence they have on uplifting the spirit is why each signature therapy is a blend of marine and other natural elements designed to balance the body and refresh the mind.

As the richness of the sea is complemented by the nurturing strength of native botanicals, you can be assured that when choosing a combination of our treatments you will emerge from the Aqua Soul Spa relaxed and rejuvenated.

Aqua Soul Spa is open between 10.00am and 7.00pm daily. Please make your appointment at the Spa.

NB: Our Spa environment lends itself only to those 16 years of age and over.

Air Connections
Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities to Gladstone (GLT) with Qantas (QF). Gladstone is a 1 hour and 20 minute flight from Brisbane (or a 6 hour drive from Brisbane).

Boat Transfer

Arrival: The boat transfer service departs Gladstone Marina at 11.00 am daily, final check-in time is 10.30 am if not arriving off a flight at the airport. The courtesy transfer to the Marina leaves the airport daily at 10.00 am, after the arrival of the early morning flights into Gladstone. The coach arrives at the Marina 10-15 minutes later.

The boat transfer arrives at Heron island at approximately 2.00 pm Heron Island time. Buffet lunch is served upon arrival at Heron Island.

Departure: The boat transfer departs Heron Island at approximately 2.00 pm Island time or 1.00 pm EST. Arrival time into Gladstone is approximately 3.45 pm EST and a courtesy transfer is available for immediate transfer to the airport.

Flights arriving into Gladstone to meet the boat transfer, must arrive no later than 10.00 am. Flights departing Gladstone must depart no earlier than 5.00 pm. Bookings can be made through Voyages. To fully confirm boat transfers, arrival and departure details for Gladstone must be advised.

Helicopter
Australian Helicopters depart Gladstone Airport daily on demand during daylight hours (generally 0800H - 1800H). The flight takes 30 minutes. Bookings can be made through Voyages.

It is essential that Australian Helicopters are advised of exactly how guests are arriving and departing Gladstone (eg flying, driving, train or staying overnight). If arriving by air, flight numbers must be provided as transfers cannot be confirmed until this information is provided.

All guests must confirm directly with Australian Helicopters their flight transfers prior to arrival in Gladstone.

Baggage Allowance: Passengers on Australian Helicopter transfers to Heron island are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage (combined maximum weight - 15kg). Excess Luggage storage available at the airport free of charge.

Heron Island Resort Room Information.

All accommodation styles have a balcony or patio, ceiling fan, tea/coffee making facilities, iron/ironing board, beach towels, alarm clock radio, ensuite with shower, hairdryer and refrigerator. A rollaway bed is available in our Heron and Reef Suites only.
TV's and telephones, while avqailable on the island, are not found in guest rooms.

Point Suites and the Beach House feature air-conditioning, mini-bar, telephones and evening turndown service. Daily full buffet breakfast, smorgasboard lunch and 3 course table d'hote or themed buffet dinner are included in the tarriff.

Guests in the Beach House, Point Suites and Wistari receive a deluxe fruit basket on arrival and a sunset canape platter and fresh ice each afternoon.

Turtle Rooms
With a casual and easy character, our duplex-style cottages were designed with the value conscious traveller in mind. Nestled into small clusters in a garden setting a short
walk to the beach, these bright, fresh rooms feature large deck and outdoor area. All Turtle Rooms are at ground level.

Reef Suite
Spacious and comfortable, our Reef Suites are positioned beachside and feature a balcony or garden setting. The bright light-filled suites offer filtered reef and water views

Heron Beachside Suite
Heron Beachside Suites offer absolute beach frontage with direct access to the water. All feature balcony with great views of the reef. A large bathroom and an in-room CD are among the features of the Heron Beachside Suites. Their bright, spacious design creates the perfect reef
holiday atmosphere.

Wistari Suite
For guests seeking maximum privacy Wistari Suites are located on the point and feature a private outdoor terrace with a two-person hammock and great ocean views. These suites feature contemporary design, separate living area, air-conditioning, fully stocked mini-bar with
CD-player and telephone in each room.

Point Suite
Heron's superior grade of accommodation, Point Suites are designed for relaxation. Set in a premium beachfront position with uninterrupted reef views, Point Suites are spacious in design, featuring a large ensuite and separate dressing room and a generous living area. Additional
facilities include a fully stocked mini-bar, CD player and phones.Relax on the private patio and enjoy the glorious sunsets... Luxury plus!

Beach House
The Beach House is one of a kind. A superior style of accommodation with a high degree of privacy. It's breezy, tropical design includes a balcony overlooking the reef, and a large ensuite including bath and shower. The expansive living area includes an oversized sofa, work desk and
direct dial STD/IDD telephone. Set within a grove of trees, a private boardwalk provides access to the beach. The Beach House also offers its own private outdoor shower.
