More than any other region in Australia, the Kimberley allows you to examine the
origins of the Australian continent. The oldest rocks in the Kimberley were formed
some 2000 million years ago and virtually all Kimberley rocks are more than 400
million years old.

To give you a perspective, until 200 million years ago all the word's
landmasses were part of a single super continent called Pangaea. The Kimberley is
unique because, unlike most other areas in the world, very little geological activity has
occurred since the rock formations were formed. The last period of intense mountain
building in the Kimberley was 1700 million years ago.

The Kimberley coastline is arguably one of the most dramatic in the world and in
particular from the Buccaneer Archipelago to the Bonaparte Archipelago. This diverse
coastline is timeless but far from static with 12 metre tides (the second largest in the
world) providing two way cascades of water twice a day. This part of the Kimberley
coast is inaccessible by land and so retains its untouched beauty.

Your Kimberley Discovery Cruise begins with our courtesy bus picking you up from your
Broome accommodation and transporting you to Broome Airport for a scenic short
flight to Derby. Our modern Sea plane will then take you on an exhilarating flight over
some of The Kimberley's finest topography enroute to Talbot Bay deep in The
Buccaneer Archipelago.

Flying at low altitude ensures you of a panoramic view of this diverse landscape. Our
skilled pilots will enthral you with their landing on the majestic waters of Talbot Bay.
Once landed you will be boarding one of our transfer vessels for an amazing journey,
and our informative guide will pass on information about this timeless land and reveal
some of it's secrets. You will then board Discovery One at anchor in Talbot Bay.
