The traditional owners would prefer that visitors do not climb Uluru.

DAY 1: Friday - Darwin
After making your own way to Darwin it’s time to check in to the Darwin Central Hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 2: Saturday - Darwin to Katherine
This morning it’s time to join The Ghan where you’ll travel South to Katherine and stop for around 4 hours giving you enough time to look around town or enjoy a spectacular Whistle Stop Tour† at Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. (BLD)

DAY 3: Sunday - Alice Springs
After arriving in Alice Springs, enjoy an afternoon tour of the sights of ‘The Alice’ including the historic Telegraph Station, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of the Air. (B)

DAY 4: Monday - Uluru (Ayers Rock) & Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
Board your coach and travel to Uluru through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Visit a camel farm and stop at a lookout to view the majestic Atila (Mt Connor) before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort: Outback Pioneer Hotel. Then it’s on to Kata Tjuta where you spend time exploring Walpa Gorge. Late afternoon travel to Uluru
enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine before returning to Ayers Rock Resort.
Upgrades to the Desert Gardens Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel are available. (B)

DAY 5: Tuesday - Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Choose to either climb Uluru or for the nonclimbers, participate on a guided cultural base walk. Both tours include watching sunrise at Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. This afternoon enjoy time at your leisure. For extra sightseeing before dinner, you might also like to take a scenic helicopter flight (listed on page 36). This evening dine under a million stars at the sensational Sounds of Silence dinner. (D)

DAY 6: Wednesday - Kings Canyon and Alice Springs
Travel to Kings Creek Station for breakfast (own expense) then on to the awe-inspiring Kings Canyon. Make the rocky climb to the rim of the Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, you may wish to take a less strenuous walk to explore the canyon floor. At Kings Canyon Resort there is the opportunity to take an optional helicopter ride over Kings Canyon (own expense) before returning to Alice Springs and the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

DAY 7: Thursday - Rejoin The Ghan to Adelaide
Your morning is free to relax or take in one of the fantastic morning tours listed on pages 31-32 before you transfer to the station. Once aboard you’ll enjoy Gold Kangaroo Service as you head south overnight to Port Augusta. (BD - light lunch served on train)

DAY 8: Friday - Arrive Adelaide
Enjoy one last breakfast on board before ending your holiday at Adelaide’s Keswick Rail Terminal. (B)

Departs: Sydney & Melbourne on Saturdays. Adelaide on Sundays, also Wednesdays May – July. Kununurra (P34R) on Saturdays.

Conditions: Single room supplement obligatory if travelling alone. Airfares not included in package price.
